In response to the expanding global population, worldwide climate changes, and dramatic plant and animal genome research occurring in Asia Pacific, the organizers of the Plant and Animal Genome Conference are planning a short version of PAG to be held in Singapore.
For two decades the Plant and Animal Genome Conference (PAG) has been dedicated to the mission of fostering development of genomic analysis of agricultural products to sustain the world. PAG ASIA will allow us to further expand this mission and to bring the discussion to more areas of the globe.

Thank you to all the exhibitors at our first PAG ASIA. Below are some photos of the exhibit.
A full Exhibitor Directory can be found here.
We are pleased to announce an recent development in the field of agricultural genomics. BGI, a major sponsor of PAG ASIA 2013, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on applying genomic tools to improving global health and agricultural development.
The partners plan to "collaborate on both a strategic level and a specific project level." They plan to leverage the Gates Foundation's agriculture and global health program knowledge and networks with BGI's sequencing and genomics capabilities with a "goal to significantly reduce poverty and/or improve health outcomes in the developing world."
We look forward to hearing more about this exciting collabortion from Dr. Jun Wang, Executive Director of BGI, who is a member of the PAG ASIA Organizing Committee and will be plenary speaker at the conference in March 2013. BGI will also be presenting a workshop discussing the Million Plant & Animal Genomes Project. (A description of this workshop can be found here.)
The full text of the press release is included after the jump.

Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) has a number of research groups that work on animal and plant species that are important for food and agriculture. Better knowledge about the genomes of these species will yield better tools and platforms, thus providing the potential to improve productivity, enhance economic growth and benefit the society.
TLL welcomes the inaugural Plant and Animal Genomics Asia conference that will be held in Singapore 2013. We are proud to be involved with the organization of this meeting and hope that this conference can provide a good networking opportunity for participants to discuss the latest scientific advances and share expertise.
